Eye Disorders ![]() Our office is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of vision, infections, injuries, and diseases of the human eye, in a friendly and caring environment.
Our office provides medical treatment
for most eye diseases. We treat common eye infections such as
bacterial conjunctivitis with antibiotics. Inflammatory and allergy
eye disorders are treated with steroids, antihistamines, and other
medications. Eye injuries such as metal in the cornea or abrasions
are treated in the office. Glaucoma requires frequent monitoring
with our state of the art instrumentation including scanning laser
ophthalmoscopic evaluation and
medical treatment (eye drops) which we provide to many patients.
Dilated fundus examination allows evaluation for diabetic
retinopathy, retinal detachment, and macular degeneration. Dry eye
can be treated with insertion of punctal plugs.
We commonly provide pre- and post-operative care for cataract surgery on a case-by-case basis. With the advancements in no-stitch cataract surgery we can usually take care of you in our office starting on the first day after surgery. As your regular eye doctor, we feel that it is in your best interest for us to work closely with the cataract surgeon of your choice in providing continuity of care. We will also discuss the new intraocular lens implants for near and distance focusing. Laser eye surgery, LASIK, to correct nearsighted, farsighted, and astigmatic conditions has been provided to huundreds of our patients including our own Carol Sandlin, RN who, in 1997, was one of the first Limestone County residents to have this new procedure. We co-manage LASIK surgery care with several highly experienced LASIK surgeons (one who has performed over twelve thousand LASIK procedures) and we provide the post-operative care in our office in most cases. This exciting procedure has been performed on millions of people worldwide. We have also co-managed the new ICL (Implantable Contact Lens) procedure.
