Carol Burmester
Sandlin was salutatorian of her class at Cullman High School. She
received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UAH, and was
selected as a member of Sigma Theta Tau, a nursing honor society.
She was a nurse at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham, one of
Alabama’s leading hospitals. After moving to Athens, she was a nurse
in the intensive care unit at Athens-Limestone Hospital. She has
worked as a nurse and optician in our office since 1986.
Carol Sandlin, RN
Dr. Sandlin is
a native of Cullman, Alabama. He received his Bachelor of Science
from UAB with a major in physics. Participation in the Honors
Program led to his Master of Science at UAB. The Doctor of Optometry
(four additional years) was received from the medical center at UAB.
Dr. Sandlin was selected as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, an honor
society, based on grade point average while in professional school.
He has passed national boards with extensive testing in vision science, eye disease, and pharmacology. He is licensed to practice in Alabama and Tennessee. Since beginning private practice in Athens in 1985, he has examined over twenty thousand different patients. Each year he attends continuing education courses to remain current with the latest advancements in medical eye care.
